Mr Spence-Jones qualified in London from St Mary’s Hospital medical school. Clinical training in obstetrics and gynaecology and research was in London, Cambridge and Canada. He additionally completed the general surgery fellowship. He has written chapters for reference text books, and taken part in research projects. In 2013 he was President of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology section of the Royal Society of Medicine.

He is a retired consultant at the Whittington NHS Hospital where he was formerly Clinical Director. Colleagues refered patients to Mr Spence-Jones for surgery as he has a special interest in pelvic floor reconstruction using natural tissue without hysterectomy and without mesh. He is an invited lecturer for this technique.
